Article No. 6 of Decree No. 26 of 2013 stated that:
A – The Rental Dispute center is exclusively responsible for the following:
- Resolving all rental disputes that arise between the landlords and tenants of real estate located in the Emirate or its free zones, including counter-claims arising therefrom, as well as requesting for a temporary or urgent relief filed by any of the parties to the lease contract.
- Deciding on appeals submitted against decisions and judgments that may be challenged on appeal in accordance with the provisions of this decree and the regulations and decisions issued in pursuance thereof.
- Implementing the decisions and judgments issued by the Center in the Rental Disputes that fall within its jurisdiction.
B – The Center will have no jurisdiction to hear the following Rental Disputes:
- Rental disputes that arise within the free zones that have judicial committees or special courts specialized in adjudicating rental disputes that arise within their boundaries.
- Rental disputes arising from the financial leasing contract.
- Disputes arising from a long-term lease contract covered by the provisions of Law No. (7) of 2006.
